Octavia Therapies provides family-centred Occupational Therapy services to children, adolescents, and young adults. Based in our tranquil Bunya clinic and serving the North Brisbane area, we walk alongside families through every stage of their journey - from initial assessments and meaningful goal setting to collaborative therapy interventions and ongoing reflection.

Rita Harrison

Principal Occupational Therapist & Practice Owner

Masters in Occupational Therapy Studies, Grad Dip (Counselling), BA (Psychology)

Rita is a patient, sensitive, and highly experienced occupational therapist who has spent nearly 20 years supporting children, adolescents, and adults across education, health, community, and private practice settings. Her passion is working with neurodiverse individuals and their care team networks - including parents, educators, medical professionals, allied health practitioners, and support workers - in collaborative, neuro-affirming, and purposefulful ways.

Specialisation and Training

To support her clinical practice, Rita has completed extensive postgraduate training and integrates the following frameworks into her care:

  • Theraplay (Parent-child relationship play assessment and intervention)

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS-2)

  • Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) & Responsive Feeding Therapy (RFT) approaches for feeding difficulties

  • Circle of Security (COS) facilitation

  • Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) to guide reflection and collaborative solutions for clients

  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) support

Clinical Supervision

Believing firmly in the value of shared knowledge and professional growth, Rita regularly provides clinical and professional supervision to allied health therapists looking to develop their skills and practice frameworks.

Beyond the Clinic

Outside of her clinical work, Rita is an avid collector of unique vintage brooches, an op-shop adventurer, a dedicated crossword enthusiast, and a fiercely competitive Uno player with her two children.
